After more than a decade of silence, the joyful whistle of the Greenport Express Miniature Railroad once again echoes through Moore’s Lane Woods in Greenport, Long Island. This cherished attraction, originally known as the Peconic County Miniature Railroad, was lovingly built by retired Long Island Rail Road engineer Frank Field in 1985 but closed in 2012.

The Greenport Express is back and features a restored 16-gauge train with three passenger cars, capable of carrying up to 36 children. The quarter-mile track winds through scenic woods, offering a delightful ride for visitors. A newly constructed 2,200-square-foot station house includes a ticket office, restrooms, and a community meeting room, enhancing the overall experience . The train operates on weekends and holidays in the summer and fall from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with tickets priced at $5 per person. Please note that only credit and debit cards are accepted for ticket purchases.

Family Tip: Pair your visit to the Greenport Express with a trip to the nearby Village’s Antique Carousel for a full day of family fun. Both attractions offer a charming glimpse into Greenport's rich history and are sure to delight visitors of all ages. And if you have time, check out the Railroad Museum too!
