Open since 1962, Adventureland in Farmingdale, NY has been the top amusement attraction for local families on Long Island. This is a great way to spend a summer day or night, is fun for the kids and nostalgic for the parents. We are sharing our top tips for visiting this summer with kids.
Arrive early! Get there right at opening (11 AM in summer) to snag prime parking near the entrance and enjoy shorter lines—kids love hitting rides before the crowd builds.
Grab the refillable popcorn bucket and drink cup! Pick up the souvenir popcorn bucket and seasonal refillable drink cup—they’re good all season long and can save you money over multiple visits. Adventureland promotes this annually.
Bring cooling gear. A stroller doubles as a shaded resting spot, and clip-on neck fans or portable fans help during hot summer days.
Budget ahead for food and ice cream. Adventureland offers Dippin’ Dots, churros, pretzels, funnel cakes, cotton candy, and more at snack booths. Plus, there’s a sit-down restaurant in the 3 Generations Food Court for a full lunch indoors in the AC.

Take breaks. The indoor arcade and food court offers a nice air conditioned afternoon break, and there are plenty of benches and shaded spots throughout. There are also misters throughout the park to help cool off.
Strategize which rides you hit first. Big kid rides like Fireball, Turbulence (the only spinning coaster on LI), and Rattlesnake Coaster tend to have longer lines—hit these early before waits build.
Don't skip the train. The little train that weaves it way through the park is a relaxing favorite, and it’s a must-do to see the layout of the park if you've never been before.

Consider a season pass. If you live locally and plan to visit often over the summer, season passes grant unlimited access. They are pricey, but go on sale earlier in the year for the best price possible. For occasional visits, pay-per-visit might be smarter.
Special events. Stay updated on special events the park runs. Visit in early fall for Pumpkin Park—a seasonal family-friendly Halloween event with trick-or-treating. Also, check Adventureland’s Facebook for evening events during summer.

Bonus Tips:
Bring wet wipes, sunscreen, and refillable water if you want to avoid drink lines.
Map out where rides are to prioritize favorites and revisit easy, low-line attractions early in the day.
The park is fully accessible with flat with paved paths, accessible restrooms (with baby-changing), handicap parking near Route 110 entrance.
With these tips—especially arriving early, grabbing those refillable treats, and packing cooling essentials—your family can beat the heat, save money, and enjoy a full day of fun at Adventureland this summer!
